National Thermal Power Corporation has invited bids for ash dyke package for 3 x 250 MW Bongaigaon Thermal Power Project at Salakati in Kokrajhar district of Assam. The ash disposal area of Bongaigaon Thermal Power Station is located at about 8 km from the project site. The existing ash pond which is spread in about 215 acres has to be developed for ash disposal. The existing ash dyke was constructed by earth bund/dyke of 6M height (silt clay/ clayey silt soil). The present dyke need to be improved and strengthened, developed to raise up to the desired level by using the existing ash from pond and also by borrowed earth (from the pond and also contractor’s borrowed earth). The scope also includes formation of earthen dyke around storage lagoons and over flow lagoon using ash & earth as main construction materials. Construction of water escape structure / emergency spillways is also envisaged. The vegetation on the slope needs to be stripped, trees to be cut. Typical section of dyke to be developed is shown in tender drawings. The material to be used for dyke formation shall be as mentioned in the drawing. Existing dyke shall be modified cutting top portion of the dyke and shall be reconstructed/ strengthened with sand blanket and soil as shown in the drawings.
