Bombay Rayon Fashions, a Bangalore based company plans to invest Rs 11000 million in Maharashtra for setting up fabric and garment making facilities. The company signed a memorandum of understanding with the State Government.

New facilities will come up at Tarapur, Islampur, Ichalkaranji, Latur, Nanded, Osmanabad and Amravati.

The first factory will come up in Ichalkaranji in three months with 12,000 machines. Operations will commence in all other facilities by September 2008. The project is to be funded through equity and debt. Yarn dyeing and fabric processing will see an investment of Rs 4500 million each while garment manufacturing will get Rs 2000 million.

The company has also decided to set up a manufacturing unit based on the organic cotton produced in Amravati district in the Vidarbha region.

In order to integrate cotton produced in Vidarbha with the textile industry value chain, Special Economic Zones with focus on textiles would be promoted in the region by the State Government.

Valecha Engineering, a leading infrastructure company has bagged projects worth Rs 100 crore, including an integrated road development project (IRDP) in Pune and a tunnel project at Udaipur. Both the projects will be completed in 24-30 months. The scope of the work includes constructing a 3,300-metre tunnel from Akodra Dam to Bujara village at Udaipur, and additional road works of the IRDP in Pune.
